Ready to start-(up)? SPACEOPTIX GmbH is a young and dynamic high-tech company founded in March 2020. As a spin-off from the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF in Jena, we develop and manufacture high-precision optical components and systems for applications in the fields of space, astronomy, industry and science. For our vision of realizing metal-optical mirror systems as key components for the commercial development of space – the “New Space” – we were awarded not only the Thuringian Innovation Prize but also a top position within Germany’s Top50 Startups in 2020.

To expand our team, we are looking for a full-time optics cleaning and assembly technician (m/f/x) with immediate effect. The position is permanent, the place of employment is our production facility between Weimar and Erfurt in 99428 Grammetal (OT Isseroda).

Your tasks:

• Manual and automated cleaning of ultra-precise optical mirrors

• Inspecting and evaluating work results for cleanliness, defects, surface shape, etc.

• Handling, testing and assembly of opto-mechanical components and systems

• Operating measuring equipment to verify assembly results

• Further development and optimization of assembly and testing processes

• Process preparation, disassembly and assembly as well as maintenance of system components

What you bring along:

• Completed technical vocational training, e.g. as physics or chemistry laboratory technician, mechanics technician, microtechnology technician

• Knowledge in careful handling of precision components

• Pro-active way of working with the goal of taking responsibility and growing together

• German language skills in spoken and written, English skills are an advantage

• Confident handling of the PC

OPTICS MANUFACTURING

To expand our team, we are looking for a full-time optics manufacturing technician (m/f/x) with immediate effect. The position is permanent, the place of employment is our production facility between Weimar and Erfurt in 99428 Grammetal (OT Isseroda).

Your tasks:

• Setting up and operating CNC machines in optical production

• Documentation and evaluation of machining results

• Conception, implementation and further development of novel measuring and processing technologies within the optical production chain of SPACEOPTIX GmbH

• Operation of measuring equipment to check machining results

• Process preparation, disassembly and assembly as well as maintenance of system components

What you bring along:

• Completed technical vocational training, e.g. as optics or mechanics manufacturing technician

• Knowledge of reading technical drawings

• Pro-active way of working with the goal of taking responsibility and growing together

• German language skills in spoken and written, English skills are an advantage

• Confident handling of the PC

Mechanical- & Systemdesign

To expand our team, we are looking for a full-time CAD mechanics designer (m/f/x) with immediate effect. The position is permanent, the place of employment is our production facility between Weimar and Erfurt in 99428 Grammetal (OT Isseroda).

Your tasks:

•Development, design and construction of individual components and opto-mechanical assemblies based on customer and project-specific requirements

•Preparation of technical drawings and parts lists

•Cooperation and coordination with mechanical production as well as measurement technology

•Involvement in challenging research and industrial projects

•Preparation and review of the required documentation

What you bring along:

• Completed technical studies or further training as a state-certified technician

• Professional experience in the field of aerospace, precision engineering, optics or mechanical engineering desirable

• Experience in the use of a 3D CAD system (preferably Creo)

• Systematic and solution-oriented approach with a high degree of flexibility and personal responsibility

• German language skills in spoken and written, English skills are an advantage

• Teamwork and communication skills
