SPACEOPTIX is nominated from a group of 85 companies for the longlist of this year’s “Thüringer Innovationspreis”! The nomination is a special honor for our young company, as we stand side by side with other traditional and innovative Thuringian players from the optics and space industry, like Jena-Optronik GmbH and ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology GmbH.

As a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering, SPACEOPTIX transfers a unique process chain for the production of high-quality optical mirrors made of metallic materials from applied science to industrial series production. Our metal optics offer significant advantages for satellite communication and observation applications, based on an excellent machinability of complex surface shapes and at the same time attractive manufacturing and assembly costs. Within “New Space” applications, space-suitable optical components and systems must be provided in large quantities for future satellite constellations.

The XXIII “Thüringer Innovationspreis” will be awarded on November 25, 2020, traditionally in four categories. With a total of €100,000 in prize money, it is one of the most highly endowed state innovation prizes in Germany.
